PONYSTEP AHEAD

Carole White & India Farrell

We’ve been waiting for what seems like eternity for the launch (party) of the new Ponystep Magazine and last night finally marked the end of the wait as Aunty Carole and Team Premier fled to East London to celebrate Ponystep’s most fabulous issue to date - with no other than 2 Premierettes gazing at us from within the mag - both Carole and India Farrell look insanely cool (=Carole) and stunning (=India) which the images below will show! Accompanying Carole’s image is a little homage to our Queen Bee: There are bosses, there are model bookers and then there is Carole White. As co-founder of Premier Models (along with brother Chris Owen), she has proved herself a force to be reckoned with. Her public profile has sky rocketed this year largely due to her appearance in Channel 4’s ‘The Model Agency’; a fly-on-the wall documentary series chronicling the hectic scenes at Premier’s Covent Garden office as the bookers prepared for the unpredictable frenzy of London Fashion Week. In a show that was in all honesty, a little ‘slow’, Carole lit up the screen with her straight talking, chain smoking profanities and general brashness. She was without question the star of the show.

But the TV stuff is over and its business as usual. And a very successful business at that. A former model herself, Carole’s booking career has overseen the reign of the supermodels, the permeating influence of celebrity culture and a new era of young Eastern European models with their own formidable work ethic. Her direct, no-nonsense approach to her job is fortified by over 40 years’ experience and a healthy dose of good, old-fashioned common sense. Carole White is no ‘Asshole Idiot’.

On a different note, always one in demand for interviews, Boss Carole was asked to comment on the high lights from the recent SS12 shows on the Guardian/Observer:

The ice-cream palette

Ding-dong, the black capsule wardrobe is dead. Belinda Earl: “Soft pales stood out as the key colour trend.” Heaven help us. Sun-bleached colour and – wait for it – tie-dye are also making a return. Think “muted brights”. This trend is a real fusion of 1960s and 1980s influences: that ubiquitous Mad Men styling but worn by Bananarama. This cannot be a good thing, surely?

Carole White offers context: “Spring/summer is hard for designers. Winter collections are easier because it’s easier for women to dress for winter. Summer is all about legs and arms showing …” She shudders. This, apparently, explains why the designers can go off on strange colour tangents in spring collections. Makes sense. No one would buy an orange winter coat. But maybe they can be persuaded to buy an orange summer dress? Indeed, orange was flavour of the month at DKNY and Derek Lam. It gets worse. Sam Baker warns: “Everyone will be buying yellow — sadly. Pretty unforgiving on most pasty British complexions. Maybe keep it as far away from your face as possible and start with shoes.” Click Here for the full article.

I Claudia

Claudia Devlin

It’s been quite a week for one of our favourite red heads, the gorgeous Claudia Devlin who managed to juggle her A levels while walking a few of the London shows….nothing seems to stop this girl, who also won a competition to walk in the Issa London show, but was sadly pulled last minute by booker Annie to go on shoot for a secret project for a well known US designer brand (no clues I’m afraid)- we can’t wait to see the pix! Here she is looking ravishing in designer Felicity Browns’ pleats and opening the Bunmi Koko show over London Fashion Week.

LONDON FASHION WEEK LOWDOWN

Premier Model Management

Like every year we must apologize for the neglect. And yes, like every year we so obviously have a good excuse. Fashion Week has come and gone and as per usual we lost some (sleep that is) and gained some (under eye bags). But most importantly everyone from the always so charming models, designers , casting directors, chauffeurs and Premier team has gone to great lengths (we’d like to think of it almost as a symphony orchestra) to ensure a smooth operation of London Fashion Week.

As you may have read, there are a few stones in the way of an even better run of London Fashion Week, but don’t worry the issue is in best hands and as we speak is being dealt with by our boss and founder, Carole White, who has pointed out the exact problem in articles in THE INDEPENDENT and THE EVENING STANDARD - we’ll of course keep you posted on the developments of this burning story! Speaking of Aunty Carole featuring in magazines, New York Magazine are currently running an interview with our queen bee, which we simply ‘ADORE’ (in true American type of lingo)!  They must love all things Premier at NY Mag as they’re also showing an exclusive Model Diary of Premier’s Sebastian Sauve!

In terms of girls, we’ve had some amazing faces in the shows this season, Bambi, Julia, Melodie, Tao, Chantal, Emily, Wang, Beegee and many more were all strutting their stuff on the catwalks of some of London’s hottest designers. Model sensation? If at this point you haven’t heard of the lovely Lara Mullen, you’re way out of fashion date. Lara is Premier’s number one shooting star, having started modelling literally a minute ago, when Premier introduced her to NY earlier this month, boy did the fashion world get talking… and they haven’t stopped since. Her features… I quite frankly am lost for words. She’s one of the most exciting faces that have emerged from British soil in ages and we are ecstatic to have found this diamond who walked for Alexander Wang, Acne, Vera Wang, Theory, Topshop, Richard Nicholl, Jonathan Saunders, Daks and Edun!!! Truly sensational! And here comes yet another big announcement, Premier have just signed Kelly Mittendorf!!! Yes, we’re rather excited about this major new addition of fabulousness (PRADA campaign etc)!

Our favourite show? There were many, but if we had to pick one, it’d have to be Giles - the catwalk, the girls, the hair, the make-up and most importantly THE CLOTHES were UNREAL (insert a Premier Loves moment here). Team Premier can also report we have not gained so much on the waist (we usually pile on the pounds due to models arriving with bags of chocolates and sweets from abroad and quick take-away pizzas), we have kept away the excess baggage with a little help from the Hummus Bros who have kindly provided us with their delightful hummus, guacamole, chicken et more creations - super healthy - and super good - models and staff could not get enough!!

LFW NIGHT OWLS

Premier Model Management

As we are impossibly busy during London Fashion Week we obviously are going to be lacking time to be blogging etc - so we will give you a glimpse of WHAT’s UP here at Premier HQ… working deep into the night, getting greasy pizza takeaways (only allowed during fashion week) and last night we had the pleasure of having our very own in-agency DJ, Mr Kobi, who kept us going until god knows what time…  we will say however that being surrounded by ridiculously good looking garments and accessories and even more amazing models does help to keep us going…

par example: WANG XIAO - UNREAL, no?

PS: many many more images and gossip coming soon to a computer screen near you :-)

Premier Update

Premier Model Management

Now that everybody is slowly arriving back in town, we can feel the air filling with “clouds of joy” on the advent of London Fashion Week! Mr Aidan-Jean Marie and his team are creating some kick-as* show packs as we speak, Aunty Carole and Annie are off on their annual trip to New York and the (bookings) table are taking more vitamin supplements and trying to stack up on sleep in order to prepare our bodies to cope with the 20hour days to come… joy of joys! We can also announce today is the final day of Miss Tallulah Harlech’s Vogue Fashion Diary, we’ve been very VERY impressed and more than just a tiny bit jealous, you and your clothes are absolutely gorgeous lady!!!! We’ve also been very VERY impressed with our friends in NY, who managed to simply devour IRENE with their ingenious brains, yes we’re sure about that, and found this video by Buffalo Picture House (below), looks just so beautiful! Also on our radar, Mr Alec Baldwin and his Twitter - love him!! Karme Pedaru at an amazing angle in Michael Kors for Interview Magazine and last but not least, we’ll join the fashpack at Gimpel Fils for an exhibition to remember our friend, the much missed Corinne Day.
